Introducing Blockify EU Withdrawal Button – Because “Withdraw From Contract” Is Now the Law
If you sell into the EU and your storefront doesn’t have a “Withdraw from contract” button, you’re not missing a feature. You may be non-compliant right now.
That’s not a scare tactic. It’s a date: June 19, 2026.
What actually changed on June 19
The 14-day right of withdrawal isn’t new. EU shoppers have had it for years – cancel a distance purchase within 14 days, no reason required.
What’s new is how they get to exercise it.
Directive (EU) 2023/2673 added Article 11a to the Consumer Rights Directive, and the principle behind it is almost annoyingly simple: withdrawing from a contract can’t be harder than signing up for one. If a customer can buy with a click, they should be able to withdraw with a click.
So as of June 19, 2026, if you sell to consumers through an online interface and a statutory withdrawal right applies, you need:
- A prominent, easy-to-find withdrawal function — available throughout the entire withdrawal window
- A two-step process, with no interrogation and no “why are you leaving?” gauntlet
- An automatic acknowledgement of receipt on a durable medium (read: an email, timestamped)
- Pre-contract information telling shoppers the function exists and where to find it
And here’s the part most merchants miss: this isn’t only for EU-based sellers. If your store directs commercial activity at EU consumers – from Ohio, from Manchester, from Ho Chi Minh City – you’re in scope. Under the strengthened CRD enforcement regime, widespread infringements can carry fines of up to 4% of annual turnover.
Why most Shopify stores are quietly non-compliant
Not because merchants don’t care. Because there was no clean way to do it.
Doing this properly by hand means building a public form that works without a customer login, translating it into every market you sell to, checking each request against real order data, drafting confirmation wording that holds up legally, sending it on a durable medium, and then keeping a paper trail that proves you did all of the above – on time.
That’s a developer project. For a button.
Meet Blockify: EU Withdrawal Button
Comply with EU withdrawal rules in 2 clicks – withdrawal button, forms, and return automation.

Blockify EU Withdrawal Button is a new Shopify app built for exactly one job: turn Article 11a from a legal problem into a settings screen.
Let shoppers withdraw from anywhere – no login required
A withdrawal button on your storefront, in the shopper’s own language, leading to a simple 2-step form. No account. No password reset. No support ticket that starts with “I can’t log in.”
Junk requests get filtered before they reach you

Every request is auto-validated against real order data before it’s submitted: right email, valid order, still inside your withdrawal window. Expired and invalid requests get blocked in real time – so your team reviews genuine withdrawals, not noise.
The confirmation email writes itself
Blockify sends a legally-appropriate acknowledgement automatically, the moment a request lands. You’re not drafting compliance wording at 11pm, and you’re not hoping someone remembered to reply.
Verified requests become native Shopify returns
Optional, but this is where the hours come back. A verified withdrawal turns into a real Shopify return – linked to the original order, with notifications, verification results, and a complete activity timeline attached.
One place to manage all of it
Every withdrawal lives in one dashboard inside Shopify, with auto order sync. Refund or cancel the order right there. That timeline doubles as your paper trail.
Speak every market’s language
24 EU languages. Unlimited requests. Custom SMTP so confirmations send from your domain, not a stranger’s.
Setup takes minutes, not a sprint
Three-step onboarding. No code. No developer. No agency invoice.
- Install and pick your markets — choose your languages and set your withdrawal window
- Place the button — storefront placement, no theme surgery required
- Turn on automation — decide whether verified requests should auto-create Shopify returns
Then it runs.

Who should install this today
- You ship to any EU member state
- You sell digital products or subscriptions to EU consumers
- You’re outside the EU but run EU-targeted campaigns, currencies, or storefronts
- You have a returns policy but no compliant withdrawal function (these are not the same thing)
The honest pitch
Compliance is nobody’s favorite part of running a store. It doesn’t lift AOV. It doesn’t show up in a growth deck.
But a missing withdrawal process is the kind of gap that becomes a fine, a dispute, or a lost market – in exactly the regions that take consumer rights most seriously. And if a shopper’s withdrawal is valid, it stays valid whether or not your store gave them a way to send it.
Selling into the EU? Handle this before it handles you.
