Auto-block checkout with free products

Overview

We’ve noticed a sneaky bot causing trouble for our customers by placing orders with free products and matching first and last names.

To tackle this, we’ve rolled out a new function on Shopify. It stops creating orders with a subtotal of 0 and when the last name is the same as the first name.

How to use:

Step 1: Turn on the Blockify checkout rule. Please review this guideline to learn how to enable it. If you’ve already enabled it, you can skip this step.

Step 2 : Tick the box ‘Auto-block creating orders with a subtotal of 0 and matching last name with first name.’ >> Save

Once you set up correctly, orders with a $0 subtotal and matching first and last names won’t be able to go through. Instead, the checkout page will show a warning: “Order cannot be placed due to suspected fraud.

⚠️ This function will block creating orders with a subtotal of $0, excluding additional fees such as shipping costs, taxes, etc.

⚠️ Due to Shopify’s regulations, third parties are not allowed to intervene in abandoned checkouts, so this feature cannot block abandoned checkouts.
